Covid-19 Response

We would like to reassure our local community that Via Wings are here to help. Support can be provided in a practical or emotional way. We can provide food bags & essential items, counselling, mentoring and pastoral and telephone befriending service. If you are vulnerable, elderly, sick, living in poverty, self-isolating, or financial insecure we can help. Our Archway is open Mon-Thursday displaying fresh food donated by our generous local retailers, otherwise destined for landfill. It is there for everyone in the community, take what you need and leave a donation if you can.

We are working together with other local organisations, food banks, churches & schools to ensure people in need, get what they need. We have the advantage of being one of the only charities in the area of having a chilled van to transport fresh food and we are happy to help other organisations  where possible. Via Wings can also provide support in the form of pastoral care telephone calls. We have a bank of volunteers from outside our organisation that have offered to help when the time comes.

We are accepting all food donations. If any businesses are in a position that they can donate large amounts please get in touch and we will work with you. We have access to chilled transport to ensure the freshness of our food deliveries.

Food donation baskets have been set up in Tesco Bridgewater (Banbridge)/SuperValu & EuroSpar, which will be collected regularly. We are incredibly grateful to all these retailers for their amazing & continued support and all their hard work at this time.

We have been designated as a priority charity with the Fareshare organisation which allows us to buy surplus food at a much-reduced price. We would also anticipate supporting our local retailers as much as possible.

Please be kind & sensible. There are a lot of people including NHS staff, retailers, volunteers etc. that are working really hard to help. If everyone does a little bit and takes care of the people around them together we can achieve a lot. Be aware that older people may not have access to internet, Facebook etc. and often don’t like to ask for help.

Currently Wellington House is closed to the public, but our staff are working as ‘key workers’ to deliver our promise and to help as much as we can in our community. For any further information please do not hesitate to contact us. We are checking emails frequently on a daily basis, but please be patient as it is such a busy time, our staff & volunteers are doing their very best.

We are currently here Monday – Thursday 9am-4.30pm. Wings N Things social enterprise is operating on a click and collect service. Take a look at the facebook shop. Opening times may be subject to change so please check our social media pages on a regular basis for updates. We are very grateful for donations of good condition new or pre-loved clothes and accessories.

In unity lets meet needs and change lives. Together we can do so much more.
