Our ‘Dare 2 Care’ project has continued to grow from strength to strength since it was first started in 2009, and endeavours to continually show God’s love in a loving, caring, practical non judgmental way. At present we currently provide over 75 families per month with a food parcel which contains non-perishable food items that just top up their monthly food shopping and helps free up a little bit of money for some other household bills.
We do not see ourselves as a food bank. We are here to provide help to those within our community who need it most. We do not ask for a voucher from anyone as we work mainly on referrals from doctors, health visitors, social workers and self referrals. We do have an initial meeting with those seeking help to make an assessment of the situation and provide the most appropriate help needed which may also require access to our other services.
Our service does not provide food alone. We provide emotional support, give advice on where to seek help if we cannot provide it, and also transform living environments by helping to make a house into a home through refurbishment.
Recently we have joined forces with Tesco, Lidl and Marks and Spencer and are now part of the Fareshare project which involves using the food these supermarkets cannot sell and turning it into meals for our families in need , the elderly and those who just need a little bit of help and support when illness hits.
